Agriculture grants for community colleges
This bill would create a competitive federal grant program the Secretary would run for eligible junior and community colleges and consortia that support agriculture advancement. Grants would fund workforce training, education, research, outreach, equipment purchases (but not building construction or major renovations), faculty professional development, apprenticeships, and other work-based learning. The Secretary would give priority to applicants that coordinate with a local agriculture industry operator to provide hands-on student training. Eligible entities could apply to be designated Centers of Agriculture Advancement and lead regional or national capacity building. The bill would authorize $20 million per year for fiscal years 2026 through 2031. The Secretary would evaluate the program and report to relevant House and Senate committees within three years of enactment.
