In Committee
Summary
Land transfer between the National Park Service and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. H.R. 6062 would reallocate administration of two Harpers Ferry parcels: about 25 acres would move from the Park to CBP for its Advanced Training Center and about 71.5 acres would move from CBP into the Park, with Park boundaries adjusted, CBP required to obtain a survey and finalize legal descriptions, unused CBP land allowed to revert to the Park, and all transfers made without monetary reimbursement and exempted from the 1944 acreage limit.

Harpers Ferry federal land swap
This bill would transfer about 25 acres in Harpers Ferry from the National Park Service to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. It would transfer about 71.51 acres from Customs to Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. The Secretary of the Interior would change park boundaries to match these swaps. The Customs Commissioner would obtain a survey and provide it to the Secretary. In consultation with the Secretary, the Commissioner could correct clerical or typographical errors in maps and legal descriptions. Transfers would be without payment, and any portion Customs does not need would return to the Park. The bill would exempt these parcels from a statute that limits park acreage.
