Emergency exit road for Wintergreen area
This bill would require the Interior Department to grant a right-of-way for an emergency exit road near Wintergreen, Virginia. The route is the "Proposed Egress" shown on the map "Blue Ridge Parkway, Proposed Wintergreen Emergency Egress Near Milepost 9.6," map 601/194,694, dated September 2024. Before issuing it, the Secretary would have to report to the House Natural Resources and Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committees that three steps are complete: an alternatives study that avoids crossing federal land (including whether existing trails can be turned into roads); a fire-ecology analysis for the route; and all required reviews under the National Environmental Policy Act and division A of subtitle III of title 54, United States Code. After that report, the Secretary would be required to issue the right-of-way.
