Defense Civilian Faculty Copyright Act of 2025
Sponsored By: Representative Bacon, Don [R-NE-2]
Introduced
Summary
royalty-free government use would extend to literary works created by civilian faculty at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) when made in the course of their employment. It adds USUHS to 17 U.S.C. §105(d)(2), renumbers nearby subparagraphs, and updates internal cross-references so the federal government may use those works without paying royalties under the existing statutory framework.
