Public list of released noncitizens

The bill would require the Secretary of Homeland Security, through the Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to create and maintain a public database within 180 days of enactment. The database would list for each noncitizen described in paragraph (1) who is released from custody: a photograph; the person’s name; a short physical description including height and weight; the jurisdiction and date of release; and which subparagraph of paragraph (1) applies. The database would be searchable by the person’s name and by the jurisdiction of release. The public would be able to access this information. This could help public safety and local officials but could also harm privacy and reputations of the people listed.
