Open Meetings Act of 2026

More public access to judicial meetings

This bill would require the Judicial Conference to post notice of covered meetings on its website at least 30 days before the meeting. The notice would list the date, time, place, and agenda. The Conference could waive the 30-day notice for good cause, but it would have to post an explanation. Each covered meeting would provide a free live audio stream and the Conference would publish an archive of the stream on its website within 7 days. Meetings could close when publication is prohibited by law or by a majority vote for sensitive or confidential matters, and the conference would state the reason before closing.
