DoD civilian job pathway for recruits
If enacted, the Defense Department would have to create, within one year, a pathway so entry-level recruits who are medically disqualified can take DoD civilian jobs they are qualified for. "Entry-level" would include regular or reserve members attending or with orders to attend within 90 days basic training, technical school, a service academy, ROTC, or officer accession programs. The Air Force DRIVE program could be used as a baseline to meet this requirement.
More defense job referrals and Navy info
If enacted, the DoD would start a program to give people found not medically qualified for military service information and referrals to jobs, apprenticeships, and training in the defense industrial base, cybersecurity, R&D, disaster preparedness, and other national-interest roles. The Secretary would work with industry, other agencies, and schools to carry out the program. The Navy would also have to give Navy personnel in the Transition Assistance Program information on Military Sealift Command careers and shipbuilder training.
