Tractor rollover protection grants for farms
If enacted, USDA would fund grants to add rollover protection to agricultural tractors. Eligible applicants would include agricultural producers and certain vocational, higher-education, and secondary schools with agricultural programs. The program would run from FY2027 through FY2031 and authorize $725,000 each year. Each year $500,000 would be reserved for grants. $125,000 and $100,000 each year would pay for the program website and a phone hotline. Grants would generally cover 70% of documented purchase, transport, and installation costs. If documented costs exceed $500, the Secretary could raise the grant share above 70%. A nongovernmental Program Administrator chosen by competitive bid would run applications and list approved ROPS. The Program Administrator would notify the Secretary to disburse approved grants. Approved rollover structures would include a seatbelt and meet SAE J2194, SAE J1194, or similar standards.
