Easier women's care scheduling for veterans

If enacted, the bill would let covered women veterans schedule women's specialty care directly without a VA primary care referral. A "covered veteran" would be a woman veteran enrolled in the VA annual patient enrollment system under 38 U.S.C. 1705(a) who is eligible for women's specialty care. Direct scheduling would have to be available at every VA medical center and clinic that offers women's specialty care and through all VA scheduling methods, including phone and online tools, and could include scheduling through the Veterans Community Care Program (38 U.S.C. 1703). The VA could not require any extra approval, referral, or screening step, and the bill would not change eligibility or access rules under 38 U.S.C. 1703.
