Higher burial payments for veterans
If enacted, the VA would raise the burial and funeral payment for deaths from a service-connected disability from $2,000 to $3,000. The $3,000 would be described as "$3,000 (as increased from time to time under subsection (b))." Each fiscal year, the VA Secretary would increase that amount automatically by the percent change in the Consumer Price Index (all items, U.S. city average). The CPI change would compare the 12-month period ending June 30 before the fiscal year to the prior 12-month period, and the result would be rounded to the nearest dollar.
