More JAG funding for 287(g) jurisdictions

If enacted, States and localities with a written 287(g) agreement with ICE would be able to apply to the Attorney General for increased JAG grants. The Attorney General, working with the Secretary of Homeland Security, would confirm the jurisdiction has a 287(g) agreement. If approved, a jurisdiction's annual JAG award could be raised by up to 10 percent of its average annual JAG funding during the three most recent years it received funding. The bill would authorize $20 million to be appropriated each year for fiscal years 2027 through 2033 to pay for these increases. The extra money would only be available if Congress actually appropriates those amounts.
