Rural Depositories Revitalization Study Act
Sponsored By: Senator Ricketts, Pete [R-NE]
Introduced
Summary
Study to strengthen rural banks and credit unions. This bill would require the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to carry out a joint study on ways to improve growth, capital adequacy, and profitability of depository institutions that primarily serve rural areas and to identify federal statutes or agency regulations that limit those methods or the establishment of new rural de novo banks. It would also require the National Credit Union Administration to conduct a separate study of methods to improve growth, capital adequacy, and profitability of credit unions that primarily serve rural areas. Each agency would submit its report to Congress within one year and the bill adopts the "rural" definition in 12 C.F.R. 1026.35(b)(2)(iv)(A).
