Segal AmeriCorps Education Award Tax Relief Act of 2026
Sponsored By: Senator Bennet, Michael F. [D-CO]
Introduced
Summary
Makes AmeriCorps education awards and related program payments exempt from federal income tax. This bill would amend the Internal Revenue Code to add national service educational awards under subtitle D of title I of the National and Community Service Act of 1990 to the list of excludable amounts and to exclude payments under those programs from gross income. The change would apply to taxable years ending after enactment, so recipients would not include these awards in federal gross income.
