119-sres-232119th Congress

A resolution designating May 2025 as "National Brain Tumor Awareness Month".

Sponsored By: Senator Daines, Steve [R-MT]

Passed Senate

Summary

Designates May 2025 as National Brain Tumor Awareness Month to raise public awareness about how common and deadly brain tumors are and to spotlight gaps in research and treatment. More than 93,000 Americans are diagnosed with a primary brain tumor each year and over 1,000,000 live with one. Brain tumors are the leading cancer cause of death for children under 14 and teens under 19 and the second-leading cause for people 15 to 39. The average 5-year survival for primary malignant brain tumors is 35.7 percent and about 18,330 deaths are projected in 2025. The measure encourages support for patients, families, and caregivers and urges collaborative research to improve treatments and outcomes.
