Show full summary
- Would welcome the European Union's REPowerEU initiative and record that the EU has cut its reliance on Russian fossil fuels by about 90 percent, with oil imports down more than 90 percent and pipeline gas deliveries roughly 80 percent. It notes REPowerEU milestones to end existing spot gas contracts by the end of 2025 and to halt Russian LNG imports by the end of 2027.
- Would single out Hungary for increasing its dependence on Russian energy by an estimated 30 percent since February 2022 and for purchasing roughly $6.7 billion in Russian crude between February 24, 2022 and December 31, 2024. It calls on Hungary and remaining consumers to fully adhere to the REPowerEU timeline.
- Would welcome U.S. sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil and urge U.S. allies and partners to terminate contracts with those firms to avoid exposure to secondary sanctions. It encourages coordinated action with the G7, the EU, and the United Kingdom and underscores bipartisan opposition to any revival of the Nord Stream I or II projects.
