National Nurses Week (May 6–12, 2026) would be designated to recognize nurses' vital role in health care, naming May 6 as National Recognition Day for Nurses and May 12 for Florence Nightingale's birthday. It would endorse the goals of the American Nurses Association, highlight the contributions of more than 5 million registered nurses to frontline care, research, education, and public health, and encourage Americans to observe the week with ceremonies, activities, and programs that honor nursing and promote workforce development.
