National Community Health Center Week would designate the first week of August 2026 as a time to honor community health centers for providing high-quality, affordable, comprehensive primary care. It highlights more than 60 years of locally run, patient-governed centers — over 1,500 sites serving up to 52 million people in about 17,000 communities, relied on by roughly 1 in 7 Americans and 1 in 3 rural residents, and supporting about 809,000 jobs and nearly $262 billion in economic activity — and urges Americans to visit and celebrate their local centers.
