Keep Gordie Howe Bridge Open
This bill would require federal agencies with jurisdiction to take all actions needed so the Gordie Howe International Bridge opens on time and stays operating. "Continuous operation" would mean following federal staffing and operational models, including the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Workforce Staffing Model. Federal officials would be barred from impeding, delaying, conditioning, or otherwise interfering with opening or operation, unless Congress approves or the Governor of Michigan requests closure. The State of Michigan or affected local governments would be able to sue in U.S. District Court to force agency compliance. This would take effect upon enactment.
