DOL Ditches Old Anti-Discrimination Rules from Zombie Workforce Act

Published Date: 8/28/2025

Rule

Summary

Starting September 2, 2025, the Department of Labor is officially removing old rules about nondiscrimination from a job training law called the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). This change affects organizations that used to get WIA funding, but since WIA ended in 2014 and all its grants are closed, these rules aren’t needed anymore. The new rules under a different law, WIOA, already cover equal opportunity, so no money or programs are impacted now.
