Summary

The U.S. is easing export rules for Syria by making it easier to send certain goods there. Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 3 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

Easier License Review for Syria

The rule changes the review policies for export license applications to Syria under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) to be more favorable, following Executive Order 14312. If you export items subject to the EAR to Syria, your past license applications may now be reviewed under more lenient standards.

Existing License Exceptions Expanded

The rule expands certain existing EAR license exceptions so they now apply to exports and reexports to Syria. If you previously needed a license for items that fall under those exceptions, you may now be able to ship them to Syria without getting a special license.

New Exceptions Cover EAR99 Items

The rule adds new EAR license exceptions for Syria, including exceptions that cover EAR99 items. If your exports are classified as EAR99, you may now be able to send them to Syria without individual export licenses under these new exceptions.
