NRC OKs South Texas ISFSI Decommissioning Plans

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved the initial and updated decommissioning funding plans for the South Texas Project independent spent fuel storage installation and issued a Finding of No Significant Impact effective December 17, 2025. The NRC said this approval is procedural and will not authorize changes to operations, maintenance, monitoring, construction, land‑disturbing activities, effluent releases, or create solid waste. The NRC staff will publish its financial analyses of the funding plans in ADAMS for public inspection.
