2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Railroads' 15‑Day Recordkeeping Burden

If you operate a railroad with remotely controlled switches, you must keep a record of each worker protection request for 15 days under 49 CFR 218.30 and 218.77. FRA estimates the respondent universe as 53 railroads with a total of 1,837,850 annual responses, 22,973 burden hours, and a combined annual cost equivalent of $1,656,812.76.

FRA Lowers Camp Car Notification Estimate

FRA adjusted the estimate for occupied camp car protections under Sec. 218.77: the estimate was reduced to 75 notifications annually across 6 railroads, with an associated annual cost equivalent shown as $72.12. This reflects that occupied camp cars are used infrequently.
