CSA Authorized to Test Eight Product Types

OSHA expanded CSA Group Testing & Certification Inc.'s recognition so CSA can test and certify eight specific product standards effective February 3, 2026. The added standards cover hand-held drills, impact drills, grinders, polishers, sanders, mixers, routers, transportable drills, chain saws, and hedge trimmers (see UL 62841 parts listed). Businesses that make, import, or rely on testing for these products can now seek CSA testing and certification under OSHA's NRTL process.

CSA Added EV Battery Standard (UL 2580)

Effective February 3, 2026, OSHA added UL 2580 (Batteries for Use in Electric Vehicles) to CSA's NRTL scope of recognition. This means CSA can test and certify batteries for use in electric vehicles to demonstrate compliance with applicable OSHA-related testing requirements. Companies involved with EV batteries can now use CSA's testing and certification services under OSHA's NRTL framework.
