VA keeps Chapter 36 eligibility form

If you are a transitioning Service member, Veteran, or dependent, the VA will continue collecting information on VA Form 27-8832 so it can decide eligibility for Chapter 36 personalized career planning and guidance. The form is submitted once; VA estimates 11,000 respondents per year, an average 15 minutes per respondent, and a total annual burden of 2,750 hours (OMB Control No. 2900-0265).

Form now collects extra service details

VA Form 27-8832 has been updated to include branch of service, component, character of discharge, and whether the applicant is attending a school or training facility. These added data fields will be collected as part of the same one‑time form submission.
