Beginning June 1, 2026, this law sets new annual pay levels for elected officials in St. Clair County, Alabama. The sheriff gets $160,000; the revenue commissioner and county commission chair each get $130,000. Each commission member other than the chair gets $45,000. These officials receive added expense allowances on top of their May 31, 2026 pay to reach those totals. The chair’s and other commission members’ pay becomes base salary on November 11, 2026. The sheriff’s pay becomes base salary on January 18, 2027; the revenue commissioner’s does on October 1, 2027. On those dates, base salaries replace all expense allowances and other compensation. The probate judge gets a $130,000 annual base salary beginning June 1, 2026, replacing all other allowances and compensation. The law also repeals earlier compensation laws for these offices.
