Alabama midwives face fewer data reporting duties

Beginning October 1, 2026, Alabama licensed midwives no longer have to collect Midwives Alliance of North America Statistics Project data. This ends that project's data collection requirement for each client who starts care. Midwives also no longer have to send consenting clients' project data to the board upon request.

Midwifery board can accept gifts and grants

Beginning October 1, 2026, Alabama's State Board of Midwifery can accept gifts and grants. The board must adopt the terms and conditions by official resolution. The law sets no funding amount and provides no direct household payment or benefit.
