More retirement options for circuit clerks

Beginning July 1, 2026, eligible Alabama circuit clerks can participate in both retirement programs. These are the supernumerary circuit clerk program and the Employees’ Retirement System. Clerks must qualify for each program independently, using separate years of service. The same years cannot count toward both programs.
