Escambia County can add vehicle registration fees

Beginning June 1, 2026, the law lets Escambia County adopt one continuing annual vehicle registration fee of up to $5. The county commission must authorize the fee and its collection before December 1, 2026. If adopted, it applies to each new registration, transfer, or renewal, starting with the license year beginning January 1, 2027. The fee is added to existing vehicle fees, taxes, and charges. The county license issuing official collects it and sends proceeds monthly to the Sheriff's Law Enforcement Fund for county law enforcement.
