More funding for Alabama student excellence

The law takes effect immediately. For the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026, it transfers $399.15 million from Alabama's Educational Opportunities Reserve Fund to the Renewing Alabama's Investment in Student Excellence (RAISE) Fund. Lawmakers can budget this money to continue and expand the RAISE Act. This funding provision does not set household payments or individual eligibility rules.

Startup funding for Alabama higher education

The law takes effect immediately, but this transfer requires enactment of HB 565 or SB 344 from the 2026 Regular Session. For the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026, the transfer is $100.85 million from Alabama's Educational Opportunities Reserve Fund to the College and Higher Education Excellence and Results (CHEER) Fund. The money provides initial funding to implement the CHEER Act. This funding provision does not set household payments or individual eligibility rules.
