Tuskegee gets funding with reporting requirements

Beginning October 1, 2026, Alabama provides Tuskegee University $16.300159 million from the Education Trust Fund for its educational program. The funding covers the fiscal year ending September 30, 2027. At least $2 million must fund the state match for agricultural research and extension services. The law recognizes Tuskegee's unique state-supported status, distinct from other private schools and state public colleges. Before receiving funds, Tuskegee must submit a 2027 operating plan with goals and measurable performance indicators for Finance Director approval. It must also submit an audited financial statement covering all operations in fiscal year 2025 before funds are released. Quarterly reports must compare actual and planned spending and report accomplishments. A year-end report must describe work, services, costs, and meaningful measures of program effectiveness. The Finance Director must promptly send all required reports to the Legislative Council. Funding remains subject to Alabama's Budget and Financial Control Act and Budget Management Act of 1976.
