Alabama corrections officials can stop illegal drones

Beginning June 1, 2026, Alabama’s Department of Corrections can act against drones violating Alabama’s criminal laws on drones. It can jam, hack, capture, or use other reasonable and necessary measures to stop or disable those drones. These actions must follow federal law and regulations, including Federal Communications Commission rules. Existing legal protections and defenses for the department and its officers, employees, and agents remain unchanged. The law creates no new funding, taxes, or fees.
