Monroeville expands city limits along highways

Beginning October 1, 2026, the law adds three highway corridors to Monroeville’s city limits in Monroe County, Alabama. Highway 21’s added corridor runs northeast about 9,800 feet, from near Oak Grove Road to Tiger Drive. U.S. Highway 84’s added corridor runs southeast about 12,500 feet, from Sunrise Lane to Gardner Road’s east right-of-way line. Highway 136’s added corridor runs north about 2,900 feet, from Highway 84’s north right-of-way to Highway 21’s south right-of-way. These additions follow the legally described highway rights-of-way, including widened areas and boundary changes along them. A map is available for public inspection at the Monroe County Judge of Probate’s office. The law does not specify changes to household taxes or city services.
