Etowah County ends alternative office vacancy process

Beginning October 1, 2026, the law ends Etowah County’s alternative process for filling vacant county offices. The repeal covers vacancies that occur more than one year before the term ends. General vacancy laws apply instead; this act does not create a replacement process. The change applies only to Etowah County.
