Beginning October 1, 2026, the Tuscaloosa County Civil Service Board can set rules for hiring additional part-time workers. The Board must consider these rules necessary for efficient county operations; the law does not require part-time hiring. The law also repeals Section 9 of Act 49-357, a 1949 local law provision about temporary employees. The supplied text does not explain that old provision, so its effect on workers is unclear.
Beginning October 1, 2026, all new hires covered by the Tuscaloosa County Civil Service System must serve 12-month probation. The law does not explain how probation affects pay, benefits, or other job conditions.
