Montgomery County allows extra marriage ceremony fees

Effective immediately upon enactment, the law lets Montgomery County’s probate judge charge an extra fee for marriage ceremonies. The fee must be reasonable, but the law sets no dollar amount. It is added to the existing marriage ceremony fee. The judge or the judge’s designee who performs the ceremony keeps the extra fee. This authority applies only in Montgomery County.
