Tallassee school board members can receive pay

Beginning June 1, 2026, Tallassee school board members can receive an expense allowance of up to $900 per month. A majority of the board must approve the amount at its annual meeting. Payments start on the first day of the following month, with actual travel and necessary business expenses paid separately. For all members, the allowance becomes salary beginning with the next term of office starting after June 1, 2026. Compensation remains subject to Alabama Code Sections 16-1-26(d) and 16-1-41.1(d).
