Beginning October 1, 2026, Alabama public schools and authorized places, such as day cares and camps, can use epinephrine devices beyond autoinjectors. Devices must be FDA-approved, single-use, and contain a premeasured dose to prevent or treat a life-threatening allergic reaction. Students can carry and use them with written medical permission, a parent's liability waiver, and school notification. Authorized places need a prescription to obtain and stock devices, and staff providing or administering them must complete required training. The law does not require stocking any particular device, and school campus supplies depend on state funding.
