New electronic tax filing for Cleburne businesses

Beginning October 1, 2026, Cleburne County’s Revenue Commissioner can set electronic procedures for business personal property tax reporting, assessment, and payment. For returns filed on or after that date, the commissioner may require electronic filing for three groups: businesses that lease personal property, businesses with at least $10,000 in personal property assets, or returns prepared by third-party tax preparers. Electronic filing is not automatically required for these returns. Electronic returns must use the commissioner’s format and contain the same information as paper returns. Existing rules for the commissioner’s other electronic tax returns govern timely filing and electronic signatures. The commissioner must offer training and taxpayer assistance, but affected businesses may face added filing and administrative costs.
