The law gives Blount County’s probate judge authority over equity cases shared with the circuit court. The judge must be licensed to practice law in Alabama. Only cases originally filed in Blount County Probate Court qualify. In these cases, the probate judge has a circuit judge’s powers, and cases are treated as circuit court cases. Alabama’s civil procedure rules apply unless another law provides otherwise. The amendment takes effect upon majority voter approval, without needing another implementing law.
