The law covers employees working in the Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs on October 1, 2026. On that date, they transfer to the Alabama Office of Civic Engagement without losing pay or benefits. After October 1, 2026, the director sets their pay. That pay cannot exceed pay for comparable state Merit System jobs.
