Beginning October 1, 2026, Alabama removes two school requirements for chiropractic license applicants. Schools no longer must teach only attendance-based courses or require a four-year standard college course. Applicants must still graduate from a chartered chiropractic school accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education or its successor.
Beginning October 1, 2026, Alabama broadens the school qualification for chiropractic board candidates. Candidates must graduate from a chartered chiropractic school or college. Their school no longer must require actual attendance for graduation. Other board qualifications remain in place.
Beginning October 1, 2026, Alabama chiropractic license applicants must submit a complete set of fingerprints. The fingerprints go through the state law enforcement agency and the FBI for state and national criminal history checks. Applicants pay the check costs; the law gives no dollar amount. This requirement also covers applicants for permits under the chiropractic law who are not licensed chiropractors. Check results may be disclosed to support denying a license.
