Effective immediately, the law places all Alabama Governor’s Mansion Authority employees in the Merit System’s unclassified service. Employees working there on the effective date are entitled to payment for accumulated leave when they leave service. Later hires receive leave payments only as generally allowed for unclassified employees under State Personnel Department rules. Full-time employees must participate in state employee insurance programs. The Authority pays employer contributions from its appropriated or other available funds and can collect employee contributions through payroll deductions or other compensation deductions.
