Beginning October 1, 2026, Alabama classifies a first second-degree stalking violation as a Class B misdemeanor. A second or later violation is a Class C felony. The offense requires intentional, repeated following, harassment, phone calls, or other communication for an improper purpose. It covers conduct toward the person, their immediate family, or someone they know. The offender must have already been told to stop that conduct. The conduct must significantly harm the person's mental or emotional health, or cause reasonable fear that their job, business, or career is threatened.
