Barbour County coroner gets new reimbursement rules

Beginning October 1, 2026, Barbour County pays its coroner for mileage at the IRS business-use rate. This replaces the old rate of 50 cents per mile. The coroner also receives an expense allowance on top of existing compensation or allowances. The county commission sets the combined expense allowance and mileage payment by resolution, capped at $400 per month. Both payments come from the county general fund.
