Beginning October 1, 2026, Alabama's sexual-torture law covers inanimate-object penetration of another person's vagina, penile opening, anus, or mouth. It applies when force compels the act or the person cannot consent because they are incapacitated. It also applies when the victim is under 12 and the offender is at least 16. The law also covers physical injury to sex organs or intimate parts, including burning, crushing, wounding, or mutilation. Each act requires intent to sexually torture, sexually abuse, or satisfy either person's sexual desire. Sexual torture remains a Class A felony.
