Faster Arizona licenses for out-of-state nurses
The law creates provisional Arizona licenses or certificates for advanced practice registered nurses, registered nurses, and licensed practical nurses. Eligible out-of-state nurses get a credential within five business days after submitting a complete application and required fees. Applicants must swear their information is complete and true and submit fingerprints for state and federal criminal-record checks. They must hold a current, unrestricted out-of-state credential and be in good standing everywhere they hold one. The Board verifies this through a national license system or other approved proof. Applicants cannot have had a license revoked or denied, or have voluntarily surrendered one in any state. They must live in Arizona or attest that they physically work there or have accepted an in-person Arizona job. Arizona residency includes holding an Arizona driver license or state ID, voter registration, or Arizona as the federal tax home. It also includes living there more than six months in the past year or military posting there, including active-duty spouses. Pending complaints, investigations, or out-of-state discipline remove the five-day issuance guarantee; the Board can assess safe practice. The Board must acknowledge applications and, within five business days, issue a credential or explain ineligibility in writing, investigating further as needed. The credential allows practice only in Arizona, under Arizona law and Board oversight. It may become a regular single-state credential six months after issuance and remains valid until renewal. During those six months, the Board can end it if there is a reasonable basis for restrictions or termination.
Nursing fee waivers for military families
Veterans and spouses of active-duty U.S. service members do not pay the fees required under this provisional nursing credential pathway. They still must meet the pathway's licensing requirements. The law does not state the fee amount.
