New disability technology study committee

The law creates Arizona’s Technology First Study Committee, with 15 members appointed by the senate president and house speaker. It meets twice yearly to study assistive technology, review emerging tools, and recommend ways to better serve people with disabilities. Its goals include greater awareness and better technology access for Arizonans with developmental disabilities. Members receive no pay. Expense reimbursement covers appointees representing the Arizona Assistive Technology Access Program, Disability Rights Arizona, assistive technology users, parent advocate groups, and 3DA. Expenses must qualify under Arizona law; the act sets no dollar amount. By October 1, 2027, the committee must report its activities and recommendations to the governor and legislative leaders. A copy goes to the secretary of state. The section creating the committee and authorizing reimbursement is repealed on October 1, 2027.
