Arizona board reviews psilocybin research
The law creates an Arizona board to advise on psilocybin health policy and research, with up to 12 members. The governor, Senate president, and House speaker appoint members in equal groups by December 31, 2025. The board’s first meeting is due by March 1, 2026. Members serve four-year terms and receive no pay, but may get expense reimbursement. After two full terms, a member must sit out at least two full terms before being eligible for reappointment. By July 31, 2026, and every July 31 after that, the board must publish a report on available research about psilocybin’s safety and effectiveness for mental health conditions, and on related state and federal laws, rules, and policies.
