Corrections council terms end December 7

For Council appointments to the Corrections Information Council, the term ends on December 7 of the year the term expires. This change sets a clear, fixed end date. This emergency law remains in effect for no longer than 90 days after approval.

No amplified protests at homes overnight

The law defines a sound amplifying device as any machine or speaker that makes voices, music, or other sounds louder. It does not include car audio heard only inside the car, hearing aids, or headphones. It is illegal to use a sound amplifying device to target a home for a demonstration between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. in Residential, Residential Flat, or Residential Apartment Zones under D.C. zoning rules. People cannot continue or restart targeting a home after a police officer orders them to stop. This emergency law remains in effect for no longer than 90 days after approval.

No throwing projectiles at homes

It is illegal to throw or launch a projectile onto someone else’s residential property to cause fear, intimidate, or retaliate against anyone living or working there. A convicted person can be fined up to the amount set in section 101 of the Criminal Fine Proportionality Amendment Act of 2012, jailed for up to 90 days, or both. This emergency law remains in effect for no longer than 90 days after approval.
