Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 0 costs, 2 mixed.

Emergency law timing and duration

The law applies as of January 1, 2025. It takes effect after the Mayor signs it or the Council overrides a veto. As an emergency act, it remains in effect for no more than 90 days from that date.

Pretrial detention rules stay in place

The law removes sunset dates on two parts of the 2024 Secure DC law. This keeps the 2024 pretrial detention rules in force past their prior end date. Courts and agencies continue to use the same standards.
